Awesafe Gun Safe: You Get What You Pay For
Overview
This is a safe that I've spent some time with since purchasing it on Amazon. There are a lot of quick access safes out there on the market, so I figured I'd provide some details on this one. Before you dive too deep into this article of the videos below, my general comment is I really like this safe, but one shouldn't expect it to be the most secure safe out there, so it's perfect for keeping kids, family members, or guests out of unwanted items, but a robber with some time would be able to handle this product.

Functionality
There is a lot of bang for your buck with this safe in regards to general features. There are a total of three ways one can open this safe. First, there is a finger print scanner, which allows you to add up to 30 finger prints (which seems to be more than enough). Second, there is are codes that you can program to open your safe if you don't want to use the finger print scanner or if you want to add it on top of finger prints. Finally, there is a key if you forget your code or most importantly if your battery goes out. This brings up an important point that there are 6 AAA batteries that power the number pad, finger print reader, and there are lights that backlight the keypad and illuminate the inside of the safe for better viewing at night. It is a good idea to swap out these batteries frequently if you are depending on this safe to quick and reliable. |
Security
As stated in the introduction, this safe a specific level of security that should be understood. It is safer than leaving valuables in a drawer, but not a safe as a big safe with mechanisms that lock door into body. This safe seems to work pretty well for keeping kids/family members hands away from firearms. It is not going to stop a burglar with a crowbar and maybe some powertools. If you are looking for a super secure safe, you will have to spend a lot more money on one than this safe. On |
Conclusion
This safe has a lot of the features I was hoping to get at this price point. I really enjoy the convenience of being able to open and close it with ease. It is important to stress that this safe is not fort knox and I've watched videos of people prying it open, so it really is all about your intention for use. I personally use this for a relatively quick access convenience safe that keeps guests at my house from stumbling upon various items. If security or fire proof features are a must, this might not be the safe for you, but this one seems to do the basics very well.
